Kit

The Kit item type creates a single price for a grouping of individual inventory items.  Each item comprising the kit is ordered and received as an individual item.  The inventory system manages the kit inventory based upon the components belonging to the kit.  The kit displays an on-hand value based upon the available on-hand of the component items.

For example, if a kit contains one unit of five component items, and each component has a current on-hand quantity of 10, the kit shows an on-hand quantity of 10.  However, if one of the components only has a quantity of one on-hand, the system reports that there is only one kit available.

The kit’s retail price is set independently of the accumulated retail price of the components.  The cost of the kit is derived from the current average costs of the components at the time of the sale.
