Gift Registry Overview

The focus of the Gift Registry is to provide a higher level of service to your customers, purchaser, and recipient.  Experience shows that customer service is a key factor in determining the success of your business.  Our point of view regarding gift registries is that the customer should not be inconvenienced during the creation of a gift registry.  The successful registries that we have been involved with rely on the personal service provided to the registrant.  This short summary will review the application of the Gift Item feature to a bridal registry though the Gift Registry can be used for any occasion.

When a bride arrives at the store, she is greeted by a clerk that will create the Gift Registry.  The clerk will establish a new customer for the bride within the Accounts Receivable module.  The account for the bride will have a credit limit of zero and No Charge Account status checked.  The bride will then be entered into the Gift Registry.  The bride's customer account ID will be entered as the Associated Customer ID to provide a cross listing of all gifts for the bride.

During a tour of the store, the clerk will make suggestions regarding the available products and take notes regarding the bride’s preferred items within the store.  If the Symbol 1504 scanner is connected to TransActPOS, the gift items can be scanned and downloaded to the Gift Registry.  The clerk will review the gift registry with the bride and edit the list as required.  The registry can be hand written on in a wedding registry booklet, silk bow and all, with a bar code applied to the back of the registry for use during the sales process.  The barcode is printed for the recipient from the AR | Customer File | Main | Print Barcode option.  A copy of the Gift Registry can be printed and made available to potential customers for their information and use.
