Credit Card Example

At the Payment Screen, select Credit Card

The Verifone device responds with a prompt to Insert or Swipe the Card.

Note: Tap is not available within the surcharge scenario.

Once prompt by either of the two prompts, remove the card.

The AUTH page will appear on the device for $0.01. Functionally, this step is used to determine whether the inserted card is either debit or credit at the processing bank.

If Credit, the system processes the transaction as credit and determines the surcharge to be applied to the transaction.

The customer is prompted with the following prompt:

You will be charged a surcharge of

$0.02 to your card.

Do you want to continue?

No Yes

If the customer selects No, the system will return to the payment screen to allow the user to select a different payment method.

If the customer selects Yes, the system will automatically complete the post authorization process to finalize the sale.

Prior to the customer's acceptance of the surcharge, the invoice total was $0.74. After the surcharge confirmation by the customer, the invoice total is revised to include the surcharge for a total of $0.76.

The resulting invoice is displayed below. The APPROVAL line presents the CREDIT card type and the Surcharge value is $0.02 since the card being processed is credit. The device returns to the Welcome screen and ready for the next transaction.
