Sales Orders

Sales Orders

The Sales Order module manages the process of providing customers with quotes, ordering items, and invoicing the customer.  It is ideal for processing hold-and-ship orders and taking phone orders.  Sales orders have the ability to accept payments, link directly to purchase orders, and invoice and ship items from within.  Unlike an invoice, the contents of a sales order may be edited after the order is created; comments and directions may be added to further document customer instructions.  Sales orders and quotes can be printed or emailed directly.

Quotes

A quote provides prices to a customer for consideration prior to purchase.  It can be converted to a Sales Order once approved by the customer.
Note: The key difference between a quote and a sales order is that items in a quote are not allocated for in inventory, and once converted to a Sales Order the appropriate quantity of items is allocated to the order.

Sales Order

A Sales Order can be created to sell special order items or to sell items in quantities greater than ordinarily stocked.  A sales order can be converted from a quote or can be created independently.
