Non-Stock

Non-stock inventory items within the inventory module are not tracked by usage as found within the stock inventory items.  Typically, the non-stock items are related to services and inventory items that are not easily maintained within a perpetual inventory scenario.

Within the non-stock inventory type, a glass matrix can be selected.  The Glass Matrix is a utility which allows stores to establish a retail price based upon even square inch measurements.  The user may enter the exact measurement of the glass, then the system will round the measurement up to the nearest even inch measurement and then calculate the total square inches based upon the new calculated area.

$0.00 Priced Items

A department may have some items which are sold and do not have an item number such as nuts and washers.  A departmental non-stock sale can be made under a generic non-stock number for these items.  Create an item with an Item ID of ”PP01”, description of ”Plumbing Parts”, stock status of Non-Stock, and a zero price.  Check the Get boxes for Description, Quantity, and Price to have this information entered by the salesperson at the time of sale.  Uncheck the Item and Bin Labeling boxes since these items do not have unique item numbers.  Change the Resellable box to Variable Costing and enter a percentage at the bottom in the Variable Cost field to assign an appropriate cost of the selling price for these items.  When the item number of ”PP01” is entered into the Enter Item field of Ring Sale, the system will then request a price for the departmental item and description and/or quantity if the boxes were checked.  Information on these items can now be tracked the same as any other items.
