Repair Files
If a workstation or file server reboots or shuts down while the TransActPOS application is running, there is the possibility that a file or files will become corrupted. The Repair files routine will allow the user to repair either or both the system files and company files of an installation. The utility will allow the user to repair all files or a specific group of files after the system files or company files selection is made.
It is possible to have the system lockout the user from entering the system due to system file corruptions BUT utilities are available to resolve this issue. Please contact technical support if you experience this situation.
Reindexing and Repairing a Selected File(s)
An alternative method of reindexing and repairing files is found within the Repair Files option. If a selected file(s) is in need of reindexing and a limited time is available, the following process will complete the task. File repair requires that all users be out of the system.
Select System | File Maintenance | Repair Files
Within the Repair Files screen, check Company and then click on Select and Thorough. The Select option will allow the user to indicate specifically which files to reindex and repair, if known. Otherwise, select "All" to scan all files for possible repair.
From the Select Company Files screen, utilize the normal scrolling window to check which files to reindex and repair. When the appropriate files have been selected, select OK to process the repair.
Upon completion, the system will indicate that the process is finished.
