Find an Item

You can search for an existing item by clicking IC | Inventory File.  The Find Item screen can be set to open automatically upon clicking Inventory File by checking Auto-Find in Inventory Maintenance in System | Company Setup | Inventory Page 2. Otherwise, click Find on the Inventory File to open the Find Item screen.

Enter Item

1. Enter Item
You can enter an item by typing it into the Item Lookup field or by scanning its barcode.
 
The Item Lookup field can accept several kinds of information:
  • Item ID
  • UPC
  • Manufacturer model
  • Short barcode
  • Item searches
 
The system searches the IC inventory files for matching information in the Item ID fields and in the Reference Number fields of the Lookup By tab.  You can also search by entering only a portion of one of these kinds of information.  For example, entering '345' may yield the following list of items:
Click on the correct item, and click Select.

Record Count

2. Record Count
This returns the number of records found matching the search criteria.

Only Resellable

3. Only Resellable
Check this if you only wish to return resellable items.

Advanced Search

If searching the by Item Lookup doesn't yield the results you're looking for, you can use the Advanced Search.  Advanced Search allows you to find items not only in your store's inventory but also in the vendor ECatalogs.

Open Grid

You can open the POS Grid or the Rental Grid from which to select an item.

Find Now

Click Find Now to display items matching the search criteria entered, or press the Enter key after entering the search criteria.

Select

Click Select after highlighting the correct item in the search results to open the item's inventory file.

Clear

8. Clear
This clears previously entered search criteria.

Close Window

9. Close Window
This closes the Find Item screen upon selecting an item.  If this is unchecked, the Find Item screen remains open in the background.

Print

This prints the item listing returned by the search.

Search Results

All items matching the search criteria are listed.
