Sales Tax Menu

TransActPOS is capable of addressing a wide variety of taxation situations due to its flexible design.  Use the Sales Tax Setup Guide for additional help in setting up your Tax types (click here).
Tax Tables
The Tax Tables portion is central to the setup of the taxation function.  In this example, a Tax ID of "KY" was created with a description of "Kentucky Sales Tax" and Location of KY.    The available locations field is controlled by the Tax Table Setup | Locations.  Select the appropriate location for the current tax table.  The Item field indicates the applicable "Taxable Item" for the current tax table. The taxable item definitions are maintained within the Tax Table Setup | Taxable Item Types.

The Minimum and Maximum values for a specific tax rate are presented within the table located in the bottom portion of the screen.  In this example, all Taxable Items within the location of KY between the value of $0 and $1,000.00 will be taxed at  6.0%.  If the tax rate were different for specific ranges of value, the minimum and maximum values could be established and then separate tax rates could be applied to each level of value.
