Kits Overview

The Kit feature is a selling feature that creates a single price for a grouping of individual inventory items.  Each component inventory item is ordered and received as individual items.  The inventory system manages the inventory based upon the components belonging to the kit.  The kit item will display on hand value based upon the available on-hand of the individual items.

For example, if a kit contains a single unit of five items and each component has a current on-hand quantity of 10, the system will report that 10 of the kits are available.  However, if one of the components only has one (1) on-hand, the system will report that there is only one (1) kit available.

The Kit’s retail price is controlled by the specific retail price of the kit, not the accumulated retail price of the components.  The cost of the kit is derived from the current average cost of the components at the time of the sale.
